Feminist Futures Research Symposium
The Feminist Research Institutes invites you to the #FeministFutures Research Symposium to be held on January 23, 2020 from 1-6pm. The symposium will invite research from across the social sciences, humanities, law, and STEM fields. Keynote speakers will be Alisa Bierria (Philosophy, Stanford University) and Kara Keeling (Cinema and Media Studies, University of Chicago).

In the wake of transphobic actions at major institutions, where the very humanity of the Trans community was a welcome topic for debate, we gather in the spirit of education and dialogue. Join renowned authors Gwen Benaway and Kai Cheng Thom along with activists Monica Forrester and Chanelle Gallant as they stage a Teach-In to educate the general public about issues affecting the Trans community and how allies can help create safer, braver spaces. Reconciliation requires building relationships. Building relationships requires more than coming together over issues. Where do we begin? We begin by sharing our stories. Decolonizing our own hearts is necessary before we can work together for transformation. Workshop is led by facilitators DM Marchand-Lafortune, a leading voice in the development of the theory and practice of equity and inclusion policy, and Monica Henriques who was inspired to continue this important and ground-breaking work after attending DM’s first workshop.
